Groton Reacts To School Shootings in Newtown, CT

'Everyone was in tears today'

Inside the Bridge Market, owner Karen Dole said people were crying at lunch Friday.

"It is terrible. I just can't think of those poor parents, those families that are just ruined. The whole school," she said.

Residents interviewed Friday said they were The shooting happened about 90 miles away, but close enough to hit home.

Katie Hugh, who has two daughters in first grade, said she heard about people wanting to pick up their children from school and bring them home.

"Most people I know, they can't wait to pick up their kids, hug them, hold them close," she said. "And people wonder, what's going to happen to the future of education?"
