Photo Gallery: Thousands Attend Groton Fall Festival

The festival featured children's entertainment and activities, a craft show and more than 100 vendors.

Thousands attended Groton's Fall Festival today at Poquonnock Plains Park, which drew more than 100 vendors including businesses, crafters, food vendors and government agenices.

The festival featured a Blackhawk helicopter for children to climb in, a show by entertainer Steve Elci, a Goju Kan karate demonstration, entertainment by Stretch the clown, a craft fair, food vendors and other children's activities like pumpkin painting.

Dillan Pendexter, 3, of Groton, made a mask, painted a pumpkin, got his face painted and won a prize at the frog toss all in the first couple of hours.

Gerri Vanwinkle, of New Jersey, said she comes to the festival with her husband every year.

"They have a lot of variety and they give you a lot of free things," she said.
