PHOTOS: Hurricane Sandy Begins To Hit The Area

With the worst still ahead, Mystic and Groton were already beginning to feel the effects of Hurricane Sandy Monday morning.

With no school and many locals home from work, residents in Stonington, Mystic and Pawcatuck were out walking around Monday morning.

At 12:30 p.m. about 2976 CL&P customers were without power in Groton.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy ordered road closures for all state highways. The closures were implemented in two phases. At 1 p.m., trucks will be prohibited from operating on limited access highways. At 4 p.m., state highways will be closed to all non-emergency related vehicles.
