More than 85 groups marched and thousands lined the parade route Wednesday.

Thousands lined the streets for Groton’s Annual 4th of July Parade Wednesday, one of the town’s biggest community events.

Eighty-five groups marched, including the Second Continental Light Dragoons, fife and drum corps, military units, antique autos, the newly-crowned Miss Connecticut and six fire departments.

The parade began at 10 a.m. at Poquonnock Plains Park, and traveled west down Route 1 to the Groton Shopping Plaza.

Did you go? What did you like best?

The parade was a good way to let people know I am a candidate for the CT House of Representatives 41st District this November. It was great to be part of such an important event.
