Winter Weather Advisory in Effect for Southern New London County

Storm is expected to bring sleet, snow, high winds and make driving hazardous

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning, coastal flood advisory and hazardous weather outlook for Southern New London County starting at 4 p.m. this afternoon.

Rain, snow and sleet are likely, although little or no accumulation is expected. But winds are expected to pick up this evening, with speeds of 30 to 36 mph, and gusts as high as 55 mph.

"Winds of this magnitude will likely down trees and tree limbs...power lines and holiday decorations...and cause minor property damage," the National Weather Service reported on Wednesday morning. "Power outages are possible. Driving high profile vehicles will be difficult... Especially on elevated roadways and bridges."
