Community Corner

Affordable Care Act Enrollment Fair

The Groton Public Library will be hosting multiple Affordable Care Act Enrollment Fairs during the months of January, February, and March of 2014. These fairs give the community an opportunity to sit down, one-on-one, with an AccessHealth CT trained Assister to enroll in a health insurance program.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or "Obamacare," is a United States federal statute signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010. The Affordable Care Act offers Americans better health security by putting in place comprehensive health insurance reform that promises to: expand coverage, hold insurance companies accountable, lower health care costs, guarantee more choice  and enhance the quality of care for all Americans.

Open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act expires on March 31 and with over 2900 people in the Groton community without health insurance, it is critical we share this information with family, friends, and co-workers!
