MRHS Program: The Trolleys of Mystic

The Mystic River Historical Society presents Bob Suppicich, “Mr. Trolley,” on Wednesday, March 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Mystic Congregational Church Fellowship Hall.  Suppicich offers an evening of learning about the Groton-Stonington Trolley Company which operated from 1904-1928 and ran right through Mystic. Picture yourself on the scenic ride starting at the Thames River, passing through the village of Mystic and ending at the Westerly Train Station. Hear about Morton Plant’s plans for a trolley monopoly and why the trolley had such a successful yet short run in southeastern Connecticut.
Suppicich enjoys researching various southern New England coastline topics including, of course, trolleys. His presentations are highly entertaining and incorporate video, sound and still photos. He is a longtime Stonington Historical Society member and encourages his audiences to share their memories and stories of the Groton-Stonington Trolley during his talks.

The program is free for Society members and a suggested donation of $5 from non-members is always greatly appreciated. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call (860) 536-7449 or email info@mystichistory.org. Visit the Society’s Trolley Photo Exhibit on their website www.mystichistory.org/collectionsexhibit.
