Noank Historical Society Program: Building the First "Steamship" in History, presented by John Laurence Busch

John Laurence Busch, will present a program based on his book STEAM COFFIN, which was researched over many years to discover the true story of Capt. Moses Rogers, a New London, CT native, his life and career as one of the first steamship captains in history, and the steamship SAVANNAH. He will describe why the proposition of making the first crossing of the Atlantic Ocean on a "steamship" was met with a mixture of skepticism and fear, and just what Capt. Rogers and the SAVANNAH accomplished. See www.steamcoffin.com for more background. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served. Books will be available for purchase.
