Ribbon Cutting for Civil War 150th Anniversary Exhibit Opening and Programs
A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on
Monday, August 12 at 7 p.m.
commemorating the opening of the Civil War 150 Exhibit at the Groton Public Library. The Library is one of 50 organizations in the United States, and the only one in Connecticut, to be selected to host the touring exhibition. The program is provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Gilder Lehrman
Institute of American History and the Library of America.

The exhibit, composed of five panels representing five stages of the Civil War, will be at the Library for a three week period,
August 12 through September 2.

Jim Streeter, Groton Town Historian, will give a presentation on Robert Gray, a resident of the town of Groton who was presented the Medal of Honor for his bravery as a soldier in the Union army.
Cake and refreshments will be served.
