"The Steamboat Era in Eastern Connecticut"

Norman Brouwer will present "The Steamboat Era in Eastern Connecticut," for the Noank Historical Society, covering the history of steam navigation on Long Island Sound and some of the colorful individuals involved; with particular emphasis on the participation of Noank and other eastern CT seaports. Mr. Brouwer was the Maritime Historian and Curator of Ship Restoration at South Street Seaport in NYC for over 30 years. He now consults for Mystic Seaport, is involved in ship restoration projects, travels worldwide and speaks and writes extensively on maritime history. He is the author of the important book "The International Register of Historic Ships," and is on the Editorial Board for "Sea History Magazine," a publication of the National Maritime Historical Society.
