Welcome The Light House, our newest advertiser on Patch!

Welcome to The Light House, (formerly known as Lighthouse Voc Ed Center) - dedicated to a lifetime of education.

The Light House, (formerly known as Lighthouse Voc Ed Center), whose mission is to educate and prepare for life, presented their new look and logo, “from campus to community” at a recent ribbon cutting ceremony for a Before Hours Mystic Chamber event. After 20 years with the community as their campus they wanted a new logo to reflect who they had been, who they are and the different components that will expand as they move into the future.

The Light House consists of three campuses:

The Learning Campus encompasses their state approved special education schools in Niantic for ages 7-21.

The Life Campus encompasses their LIVECTA Transition Academys with post-secondary college, career programs for individuals on the spectrum, evening and social/leisure programs and a digital media studio.

The Community Campus encompasses their DDS day program at 46 Plaza Court in the Groton Shopping Plaza and a residential program for those with developmental disabilities.

The Gallery at The Light House is an art gallery located at 744 Long Hill Road, Groton that exists for the benefit and enrichment of The Light House students, staff, Groton residents and the public at large.

Stay tuned for more information on upcoming events from The Light House, including the 7th annual Grace Curtis Conference coming up on March 28th at the Mystic Marriott. The speakers will discuss the challenges for military and African-American families who have children on the autism spectrum. Karen Driscoll, Assistant Director for Federal Government & Military Affairs, for Autism Speaks, Washington, D.C. will be the morning speaker. There will be an exclusive screening of the award-winning documentary “Colored My Mind” with panel discussion by its producers Tisha Campbell-Martin, LaDonna Hughley, Donna Hunter, Tammy McCrary, Shannon Nash and the film’s director and producer of BET Sunday Best Nia Hill.
