Since 1875 and Still Going Strong

Noank's Memorial Day Parade may be the oldest continuous Memorial Day Parade in the U.S.

Many claim to be the oldest, continuous Memorial Day parade in the nation including Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, Ironton, Ohio and Noank, Connecticut.

We’ll go with Noank.

On Monday May 27, one of the oldest, continuous Memorial Day Parades in the nation will kick off at 10 a.m.  The parade will be followed at 11 a.m. by a free-to-the-public picnic sponsored by the American Legion at Noank Park with free hot dogs and burgers served by veterans with music provided by the Noank-Mystic Community Band.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a gorgeous day; keep those fingers crossed.

Be aware that the parade route includes Noank Village streets of Main, Pearl, Chester, High, Sylvan, Ward Avenue, and Mosher with a memorial pause at the Noank Cemetery. The parade will then continue to Elm Street to the Memorial Triangle at Brook Street.

Expect some traffic delays from around 9:30 to 11.
