‘Tis the Season of Giving … Here’s One Way to Help Others

In keeping with the season of giving, here's one way to help, Groton.

By Ellyn Santiago

The Groton City Police Department donated $100 to Toys for Tots and picked up food items needed for Groton Human Services Thanksgiving distribution Friday.

They’re in the spirit! You can be, too. Human Services is still seeking donations for Christmas holiday baskets including canned fruits and veggies, cranberry sauce, instant mashed potatoes, stuffing mix, muffin/bread mixes, canned gravy, pie filling and crust mix, cake and muffin mixes, Jell-O, hot chocolate, microwave popcorn, frozen turkeys, cash to purchase turkeys and gift checks.

Toys and gifts are also needed including Play-Doh, Legos, blocks, board games, puzzles, action figures, cars and trucks, books, music CDs, footballs and basketballs and gift cards for teens (iTunes, Wal-Mart, Dunkin Donuts, for example) and movie passes.

For more information on how to help, call Human Services at 860-441-6760.
