Gardner Calls For Elimination of RTM

BOE member Shelley Gardner charges RTM is no longer the unbiased group it may once have been.

For the remainder of my time in Groton, I will personally be pushing for and supporting the elimination of the RTM.

Times have changed and if this body once operated as an unbiased group, formed to support the whole community, they have not functioned in such a manner for years.

We have pensioners, spouses of pensioners, employees, spouses of employees, businessmen/women (whom do business with the Town) on the RTM, all acting in a manner that raises taxes for all, but benefits the few, monetarily..

Of course they do not see the fiscal cliff, they are out in the meadow. Many of them are guaranteed union jobs with annual raises and this never effects them. When they retire and no longer want to pay for the next guy/gal on the payroll, they move to Central America or the Caribbean to live for a lot less.

These individuals never intend to pay the taxes that they've created, when it no longer benefits them personally.
