Calling All Singers!

Want to perform the national anthem at the 112th Submarine Force Birthday Ball?

If you think you're a good singer, planners of the 112th Submarine Force Birthday Ball want to hear it!

On its Facebook page, the Southeastern Connecticut Submarine Force Birthday Ball Planning Committee asks for video submissions of contestants singing the national anthem.

"We wanted to find a unique way to draw interest to the submarine ball this year," said Electronics Technician 1st Class (SS) Barry Williamson in a Navy press release. "In borrowing from the popular television singing shows, and applying it to the New London area, we'll not only find the best singer for the job, but also peak interest in a long standing and still wonderful event."

According to the event details, the top 15 submissions will perform live, and one will be chosen to perform at the Foxwoods' party on April 14.

Competition is open to all all active-duty military, retirees, dependants, Navy civilians, and from the general public, age of 18 or older. Deadline is March 12.
