This is from Shelley Gardner; an emailed statement to the RTM which makes no bones about her position on conflicts of interest. To Whom It May Concern, I firmly hold the belief that it is immoral and unethical for anyone holding elective office not to obstain from participating in any vote that could benefit themselves or a spouse in a financial matter. Whether through job security, position, position advancement or a pay raise. I have seen this happen annually during the budget session and I find it highly untrustworthy and dishonest of individuals participating in such a vote. To justify this practice by disclosing your involvement is not an excuse for the continued practice which appears to be a way to justify corruption. Respectfully, Shelley Gardner
