13-Year-Old Faces Additional Gun Charges

Juvenile arrested at Sacred Heart School for possessing a firearm on school property. Now faces a charge of sale of a dangerous weapon. The firearm was an air soft gun that shoots plastic pellets propelled by compressed gas.

According to Groton City Police logs, on Nov. 15, a 13-year-old was arrested after the juvenile was found to be in possession of an airsoft gun. The arrest took place at Sacred Heart School.

Airsoft guns look like real firearms save they fire plastic pellets via compressed gas or spring-driven pistons. The guns usually have an orange plug on the tip to distinguish them from a firearm that shoots bullets.

The student was initially charged with possession of a firearm on school property and second-degree reckless endangerment. But according to the logs, the youth was charged several days later with carrying and sale of a dangerous weapon.
