Arrest Made in Groton Citizen's Bank September Holdup

Suspect was already locked up (on unrelated charges) when Groton police arrested him.

Police have arrested and charged a 39-year-old man with robbery in connection with a September Groton bank robbery, according to Groton Town Police Detective Commander Lt. John W. Varone

On Sept. 25, Groton Police responded to the Long Hill Road Citizen’s Bank branch for an armed robbery where the suspect threatened the teller and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.  Surveillance video was shared on Patch and social media and, police said, “Over the course of the next few days, we received numerous calls, texts, and e-mails, identifying the suspect.”

This week, police charged Sheldon Schuler with second-degree robbery and third-degree larceny in connection with the hold-up. Ironically, Schuler, was already incarcerated at Walker Correctional Center in Suffield on unrelated charges.
