Updated: Juvenile Stabbed On School Grounds

Suspect Apprehended, Knew Victim

The Town of Groton police responded to a reported stabbing Saturday around 7 p.m. at Northeast Academy Elementary School according to police communication.

The release said the town and City of Groton police departments collaborated and apprehended Joseph LaMarch, 21, of 11 Bern Court in Mystic for stabbing a juvenile. LaMarche was found at a residence on Brandegee Road.

The victim was transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital and is expected to recover.

LaMarche is being held on a $250,000 bond and is charged with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment of a minor, possession of a weapon on school grounds, carrying a dangerous weapon, having a weapon in a motor vehicle, risk of injury to a minor.
