Chief Reimondo Offered Buyout

The controversial chief and two of his top officers have been offered the buyout, according to a published report.

Police Chief Matthew Reimondo, who has been at the center of controversy in the past few years and who won reinstatement to his job in a townwide vote, is mulling an early retirement offer by the town, the Hartford Courant reports.

Reimondo and two of his top officers, Sgts. Garritt Kelly and Michael Green, also have been offered buyouts, the newspaper reports. All three have been with the department for more than 20 years and Reimondo is reportedly seriously considering the offer, the Courant reports.

The department has been at the center of controversy for the last several years, starting with Reimondo's dismissal in 2010 by then-Town Manager Jeffrey O'Keefe, Reimondo's successful fight to get his job back in a town-wide referendum and more recent accusations against the department and Reimondo of violations of the town's ethics code. Those accusations were ultimately found invalid by an independent investigator.

The word is that he and Kelly have already accepted the "get out of town" package. Good to see that the piece of garbage Reimondo and his suck pump Kelly will be gone. It may take awhile but I'm confident that the truth about his underhanded tactics will come out now that he is all but gone.

At least it is done professionally! Let's drop the hate and garbage and move on. It's been great not reading any nastyness for quite awhile.

That's so weird. On my end it was showing up on the homepage as cheif, but as chief when I go into the story. Anyway, it's fixed! Thanks.
