Don't Even Think About Driving/Parking Near Seaport Sunday!
The Morgan launch means traffic will be crazy! And police boats will be patrolling the Mystic River as it's excepted boat traffic will be very heavy.
In an effort to help with travel plans, especially for locals, Stonington Police Capt. Jerry Desmond is asking people to be aware that on Sunday, from 12 to at least 4:30, traffic congestion will be particularly heavy in and around downtown Mystic and Route 27/Denison Avenue for the launch of the Charles W Morgan at the Mystic Seaport, where attendance for the event is expected to be high, perhaps even record-breaking.
Desmond is asking folks to please use alternate routes for local travel and be aware of all the no-parking zones.
In addition, law enforcement boats will be patrolling the Mystic River so folks should be advised that river traffic, too, will be heavy.
