Man’s small dog also taken to animal hospital with critical injuries

A man in his 70s was serious injured Tuesday morning after a dog attack and required hospital treatment, Groton Police said.

The man, who was not identified, suffered “serious physical injuries to his upper extremities” and was taken to Lawrence & Memorial after the attack, police said. The man’s small dog was also critically injured and was taken to Companion Animal Hospital on Poquonnock Road, police said.

The attack happened at about 8:50 a.m., at Calvin Burrow’s Ball Field on South Road, the news release said.
