Groton City Police Make Arrest in Church Burglary

Turns out Groton City officers arrested the suspect while he was in court Wednesday appearing on nearly 20 charges related to another Groton burglary and several in New London including a home invasion.

Groton City Police have announced the arrest of a New London man in connection with the November burglary of a Groton City church.

At 10:30 Wednesday morning, the Groton City Police Department served an arrest warrant on Jaden Alvarez, 21, in New London Superior Court where Alvarez was appearing on other charges, according to Det. Sgt. Jad C. Bickford.

Alvarez is suspected of breaking into the Groton Heights Baptist Church, 72 Broad St., Groton City on Nov. 22. Police say during the burglary, the church sustained “moderate damage to its interior and several items and a small amount of cash were stolen.”
