Groton Holiday Lights Parade Traffic, Parking Update

From Groton Police press release:

On Saturday, 12/07/13, the town of Groton will be holding the annual Holiday Lights Parade.

The parade starts at 5:00 PM from the area of Poquonnock Rd @ South Road. It proceeds West on Route 1, to the Groton Shopping Plaza.

Residents can expect traffic delays and road closures prior to, and during the parade. Staging for the Parade is anticipated to create moderate traffic congestion on Fort Hill Road, between Depot Road and South Road, starting at 4:30 PM, and continuing until after the parade is over.

Route 1 will be closed between Depot Road and Meridian Street just prior to the start of the parade and will last the duration of the event.

The Groton Police urge everyone to use caution while driving in the area of the parade, and be observant for pedestrians.

We also urge spectators of the parade to assist us in making this a safe and joyous event, by staying on the sidewalk and keeping children out of street.
