East Lyme police arrested three suspects, including a Groton man, and seized 713 Oxycodone 30mg pills with street value of approximately $21,300, along with more than $2,000 cash, after making a motor vehicle stop on Chesterfield Road yesterday.

Police arrested James Douglas, 20, of 22 Crossly Court, Niantic; Tyler Glendenning, 20, of 282 Chesterfield Road, East Lyme; and Sean Connolly, 20, of 301 Buddington Road in Groton.  All three were charged with possession with intent to sell a controlled substance; possession of narcotics; and illegal storage of narcotics.

Douglas was also charged with possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle and with carrying a dangerous weapon after police found an electronic stun gun.

The arrests came following a three-month long investigation that began when a concerned citizen tipped them off to suspicious activity. During the investigation, police learned that the suspects would drive to New York on a weekly basis to buy about 300 Oxycodone pills for $12 to $18 a pill, then return to East Lyme, where they allegedly sold them from their vehicle in the parking lot of CVS for $30-$35 dollars a pill.

East Lyme Police Sgt. Terry Saffioti said that during the course of their investigation police had discovered text messages sent from the suspects detailing their activities and even photos sent showing off the money and pills. Police found the pills they seized from the vehicle on April 16 stashed inside lint rollers and inside an empty bottle of bleach from which the bottom had been cut.

Saffioti said the East Lyme Police Department is working on additional search warrants and that he expects more arrests will be forthcoming as the investigation continues. Anyone with any information of illegal drug activity is encouraged to call the East Lyme Police at (860) 739-5900.
