UPDATED: Groton Man Arrested For Assaulting Pregnant Woman

Incident Took Place In Private Home Sunday

Police arrested a Groton man Sunday for assaulting a pregnant woman during a disturbance at a house.

Carter Hust, of Groton, was charged with third-degree assault of a pregnant person, second-degree strangulation, second–degree unlawful restraint and disorderly conduct.

According to court records, Hust, 21, was intoxicated and the victim yelled at him. Hust then pushed her to the ground, wrapped his arm around her throat and she could not scream or breathe, the records said.  A New London Superior Court judge issued a protective order Monday.

Hust was charged after an investigation of a disturbance at a residence within the town. He was released on bond to Navy command.

The case was continued until Sept. 19. No further information was available.
