Man Arrested On April 1 During Traffic Stop In Clinton

A Groton man faces a slew of charges including first-degree robbery, home invasion and stealing a firearm, after he was arrested this week during a traffic stop in Clinton, police said.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in 2009, State Police Spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance said.

Nathan A. Martinez, of 39 Hines Avenue in Groton, was charged with second-degree assault, first-degree burglary, second-degree unlawful restraint, first-degree robbery, two counts of stealing a firearm, home invasion, third-degree larceny, and violation of the law requiring a permit to sell or buy a pistol, state police said.

He was held on $175,000 cash bond and appeared in Norwich Superior Court this week, Vance said.

He said Martinez was arrested April 1 and taken into custody following a motor vehicle stop in Clinton.  He was then turned over to state police, Vance said. The case is still under investigation, he said.
