Groton Man Injured In Accident On Benham Road

Motorcycle Struck Car As It Pulled Out Of Lot

A Groton man was injured Thursday when the motorcycle he was driving struck a truck on Benham Road, police said.

The driver of the motorcycle was thrown about 15 feet from the spot where the accident occurred, a witness said. The driver was taken by ambulance to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital. His identity was not immediately available. 

He was wearing a helmet and his injuries were not considered life-threatening, police said.

Police said the truck pulled out of Charter Oak Federal Credit Union on Benham Road and the motorcycle struck it. The motorcyclist was driving over the speed limit, and the driver did not have registration or insurance, police said.

A portion of Benham road was temporarily closed Thursday afternoon while emergency workers cleared the accident.
