Groton Police Extradite Man Wanted on Numerous Domestic Violence Charges

A Waterford man wanted on domestic violence charges was taken into custody at LaGuarida Airport in New York last week and returned to Groton by detectives on Friday, a Groton Town Police news release said.

Gerard M. Perron Jr., 42, of 26 Stone Street in Waterford, was wanted on eight warrants related to domestic violence incidents in 2011, and on two warrants for failing to show up to court.

He is charged with eight counts of violation of a protective order, two counts of first-degree harassment, six counts of second-degree threatening, five counts of second-degree harassment, one count of breach of peace, one count of first-degree failure to appear and one count of second-degree failure to appear, the news release said.

Perron is being held on $400,000 in bonds and is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on Tuesday.

New York Port Authority Police at LaGuarida took Perron into custody Feb. 6, after he arrived on an international flight. The release didn’t specify where he’d been.

Groton detectives then extradited Perron back to Connecticut on Friday and arrested him.
