Groton Police Investigate Robbery

Police Dispatched To Convenience Store Tuesday

Groton Town Police are investigating a robbery that occurred Tuesday night at a convenience store near the intersection of Routes 117 and 184.

Lt. John Varone said police were dispatched shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday to respond to the reported robbery. Two employees were in the store at the time and were not injured, he said.

A weapon, which was not a firearm, was used to threaten the employees, Varone said.

He declined to say what was taken and whether police are looking for one or multiple suspects.

“The investigation is active,” he said.

The Ledyard Police department’s canine unit and state police assisted Tuesday evening.  No further information was available.
