Groton Woman Charged with Embezzling Thousands from SE CT Water Authority

Stephanie Hodge is alleged to have embezzled more than $44,000.

A Groton woman has been charged with embezzling more than $44,000 from the Southeastern Connecticut Water Authority, according to a report in The Day and Connecticut State Police. 

A former water authority staffer, Stephanie Hodge is facing allegations that she embezzled more than $44,000 “using an elaborate scheme to shift money between customer accounts.”

Hodge, 48, of Groton, who faces a first-degree larceny charge, is alleged to have employed an “elaborate scheme to shift money between customer accounts.”

According to the state judicial website, Hodge was released on a $150,000 bond. She is due in court Jan. 31. The offense date is listed as April 2011.

The case was investigated and referred by Connecticut State Police Troop E.
