I-95 Re-Opened After Driver Ejected From Vehicle

Truck Rolled Over Between Groton Northbound Exits 87 And 88

Traffic is back in motion after a portion of I-95 was re-opened late this afternoon after a truck rolled over between exits 87 and 88 in the northbound lane. The truck's lone occupant was ejected from his Ford F350 this afternoon and sustained a head injury, a broken arm and at least a fractured or broken leg, according to Poquonnock Bridge Fire Captain Brian Keily.

Keily said the vehicle swerved, then skidded, then hit the edge of the road and that's when the truck rolled over. The truck came to rest in the median but the highway was closed while the vehicle was righted and debris was removed.

"There were tools everywhere," Keily said. "We picked them up and put them in the truck when it was flipped back over, he'll have to sort them out."

Keily said driver was conscious but "pretty agitated" when they arrived on the scene and that there was a deep laceration on his forehead.

"He probably got that when he was ejected from the truck. He's lucky," said Keily.
