Man Struck By Car In Groton Has Died

Accident Remains Under Investigation

The man who was struck by a car on Fort Hill Road in Groton Tuesday has died, police confirmed today.

His identity was not released, but he is in his 50s.

Groton Police Lt. John Varone said a car was traveling westbound on Fort Hill Road shortly after 2:30 p.m. when it struck the man.

The Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department, Groton Ambulance, Lawrence & Memorial Paramedics and Groton Town Police responded, and emergency personnel rushed the man to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital. The plan was to transfer him to Yale-New Haven Medical Center.

The driver stopped after the accident. It remains under investigation, Varone said.
