Nine Firefighters Being Laid Off in Groton

Only 16 firefighters will remain.

Heavy layoffs are occurring at one Groton Fire District as nine firefighter positions were eliminated from a taxpayer approved budget for next year, according to WTNH News 8. 
The Poquonnock Bridge Fire District is having to layoff nine firefighters, which will leave just 16 left, and may result on neighboring districts to help them respond to calls, WTNH reports.
