A New London man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly burglarizing a home in Quaker Hill, and police believe the man may have burglarized at least five other Waterford homes and then sold the stolen items to a Groton pawn shop.
Scott Tyrone, 31 of 615 Bank Street, New London, was charged Wednesday with sixth-degree larceny after a home in Quaker Hill was burglarized earlier that morning.
While Tyrone has only been charged with sixth-degree larceny so far, five other Waterford homes have been burglarized in the past two weeks. On Wednesday a press release by Waterford Police Lt. Jeff Nixon said "further charges related to the companion cases are pending, as the investigation remains active."
Nixon said in the release that Tyrone was captured after he "was completing pawn transactions in Groton," and Groton Town Police assisted in the arrest of Tyrone. Nixon also said police were able to recover a "substantial" amount of stolen property from the burglaries.
Tyrone is being held on $250,000 bond, pending his appearance in court this morning. Any person who has any information on these incidents should call the Waterford Police Department at 860-442-9451.
