Police Seeking Six Or Seven Men Involved In Fistfight

Fight Occurred Outside Grasso Technical High School Gymnasium Tuesday Night

State police are looking for six or seven young men involved in a fight outside the gymnasium of School Tuesday night.

State Police Spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance said police were called at about 7:30 p.m. to respond to a fight, but it was over quickly. He said preliminary reports did not indicate injuries. Groton Town Police also responded.

There have been no arrests.

“It was a fistfight,” Vance said. “Most of the people involved fled on foot before law enforcement got there.”  He declined to specify their ages.

Grasso Tech played a basketball game against Norwich Technical High School Wednesday.

Grasso Principal Scott Zito said the fight did not involve students and occurred after the game.

“We’re investigating it at the moment, but it was not a major situation,” he said. “It was a brief, not even minute-and-30-seconds fight.”

Zito, who said he did not attend the game, said he was told by staff the situation was secured quickly. He said police were called because that is the practice when a fight occurs.

“Now we’re trying to track down the kids that came up here,” he said.

Vance said police have some ideas about who was involved and continue to investigate.

“We’ve developed some information as to their identity and the trooper assigned to this case will continue to seek them out and find out their side of the story,” he said.
