Police Seize More Than 70 Bags Of Synthetic Marijuana At Groton Food Mart

Warrant was executed Tuesday after a joint investigation of illegal drug trafficking in Groton.

Investigators seized more than 70 bags of synthetic marijuana packaged for sale at Cory’s Food Mart on Route 12 in Groton on Tuesday, police said in a news release.

Groton Town Police and Naval Criminal Investigative Service executed a search warrant of the food mart at 208 Route 12 as the result of a joint investigation of illicit drug trafficking in Groton, the news release said.

Police were looking into the sale or use of synthetic drugs, such as spice or other hallucinogens, the release said.

Members of the State’s Department of Consumer Protection’s Drug Control Division and state revenue agents also assisted in the investigation.

Investigators also synthetic drugs and various paraphernalia during the search.

This investigation is ongoing.
