UPDATED: Two Arrested In Armed Robbery At Navy Federal Credit Union

No injuries reported.

Police have charged a New London man with first-degree robbery in connection with an armed robbery at the Navy Federal Credit Union on Sailfish Drive in Groton today.

Kevin A. Drew, 28, of 225 Coleman St. in New London, has also been charged with second-degree larceny, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal use of a firearm, possession of a pistol without a permit and possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, Groton Lt. John Varone said.

Police seized an undisclosed amount of currency and a semi-automatic pistol in the case, according to a news release.

A second person is also under arrest, but charges have not been finalized, Varone said.

Varone said he could not comment on how many customers were in the credit union at the time or how the robbery occurred. But he said a “full complement of employees” were working at the time.

“He implied that he had a firearm,” Varone said of the incident.

A bank camera captured the robbery on film, Varone said. 

Drew was arrested at 1:12 p.m. on the submarine base by Groton Town Police, Sub Base Police and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. The arrest took place 15 minutes after the robbery was reported.

Drew will be arraigned in New London Superior Court on Monday.

Groton Town Police are on the scene of a reported robbery at the Navy Federal Credit Union.

The robbery occurred at the credit union on Sailfish Drive.

No one was injured, an employee said. Two people have been arrested so far, police said. The bank was closed.
