Sewage Line Backs Up In Groton
Ledge Light Health District, Department of Environmental Protection Called In To Monitor Cleanup
For the second time in less than a week, sewage backed up onto Long Hill Road in Groton. Around 6 p.m. Thursday, a call went out to the Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department that sewage was coming up out of the drains on Longhill Road between Drozdyk Drive and Poquonnock Road.
The fire department and Groton Town Police closed the block of Long Hill Road between Drozdyk and Poquonnock, and traffic was diverted for clean-up. The Ledge Light Health District and the Department of Environmental Protection were called to assess the cause and monitor cleanup.
A Sunoco gas station, H & R block, and a Dunkin Donuts were among the affected bussinesses.
