Six Arrested In Insurance Fraud Scheme

Accidents Staged, Then Damage And Injuries Claimed

Six people were arrested in connection with an insurance fraud scheme in which people would stage car accidents, then file false insurance claims for damage and  injuries, Groton police said.

Groton Town Police and the National Insurance Crime Bureau began the investigation in September 2010 “into individuals who were staging motor vehicle accidents and making fraudulent claims with insurance companies for pre-existing motor vehicle damage and non-existent injuries,” a police department news release said.

The following individuals were arrested:

Camelot Noe, 48, of 54 Montauk Avenue in New London, charged with insurance fraud, third-degree larceny and falsely reporting an incident;

Marie J. Destin-Turner, 32, of 84 Paul Revere Road in Groton, charged with conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and falsely reporting an incident;

Jacques Fleurijeune, 21, of 49 Cliff Street in Norwich, charged with conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and falsely reporting an incident;

Roosevelt Fleurijeune, 18, of 54 Montauk Avenue in New London, charged with conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and falsely reporting an incident;

Tyrese Smith, 31, of 54 Montauk Avenue in New London, charged with conspiracy to commit insurance fraud; 

Duwayne Todd, 23, of 37 Tilley Street in New London, charged with conspiracy to commit insurance fraud.

The investigation continues and there may be more arrests, police said.
