State Police Bust Groton Man in Child Porn Investigation

State Police say 18 people were arrested in a statewide sweep this week.


A Groton man is facing child pornography charges — the result of a statewide Connecticut State Police investigation.

According to state police, detectives from the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit, assisted by members of the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Sex Offenders Unit, conducted an arrest warrant sweep across the state on Thursday, March 27. 

"After several lengthy and thorough investigations, 18 people from across the state were arrested," state police said in a press release. The Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Investigations Unit is also the command for Connecticut’s Internet Crimes Against Children’s Task Force.

Police arrested James Demay, 27, of 25 Broad Street Ext., on a felony charge of first-degree possession of child pornography in connection with a Jan. 8, 2014 incident, according to state police and the Connecticut Judicial website.

Demay was released after posting $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear April 8 in state Superior Court in New London, according to the Connecticut Judicial website.
