Two Injured In Three-Car Accident On Fort Hill Road
Chain reaction occurred as cars were traveling West toward Depot Road.
Two women were injured in a three-car, chain reaction accident on Fort Hill Road between Newtown and Depot roads Tuesday evening.
The women were in the middle car and not immediately identified. They were taken by ambulance to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital. Fort Hill Road was temporarily closed but reopened at about 6:30 p.m.
Joe Turner, who works at 62 Fort Hill Road, said he heard “bang, bang, bang” as the cars hit, then a woman screaming.

He was the second person to call 911.
“The woman in the drivers’ seat was hysterical,” he said. “She could not feel her legs. Air bags deployed and there was a lot of debris in the car.” The passenger in the middle car, an Acura, got out of the car and was sitting on the curb, also hysterical, Turner said.

The drivers of the other cars, an older man and a young woman, did not appear to be hurt, he said. The accident occurred almost directly across from Town Hall and Fitch Middle School.
Police said the accident remains under investigation.
