Republican Candidate for Governor Picks Somers as Running Mate

Former Groton mayor and current Town Councilor Heather Bond Somers will join Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton as running mate as he seeks the Republican gubernatorial nomination

 

Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton announced today he has chosen former Groton mayor and current Town Councilor Heather Bond Somers as his running mate as he seeks the Republican nomination for governor, as reported in The Day and on Somers Facebook page.

Somers told Groton Patch last June that “The climate for business in Connecticut is less than positive.”

Somers has held public office since 2000 as a Groton Town Counilor. She has also served on the town’s Economic Development Committee, Public Safety, Education and Economic Steering Committee. She served as the Connecticut delegate at National Women’s leadership Summit, and was the United Nations Day, State of Connecticut Chairperson.

Somers is a graduate of Fitch High School, earned a bachelor's degree in Economics/English from UConn, worked for Electric Boat and is partner at Hydrofera LLC, a medical device manufacturer.
