Both Fort Trumbull And Fort Griswold Were Sites Of Revolutionary War Battles

The raid of New London and the battle at Fort Griswold on September 6, 1781 were two of the last British victories before the end of the Revolutionary War. State Park Supervisor Jonathan Lincoln brings us to the site of each battle and describes the event. 

Fort Trumbull State Park is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The public is welcome to roam around the outside the fort and piers for free. There is a fee to enter the fort or visit the interactive and multimedia gallery of exhibits that illustrate the fort's rich history of military contributions and involvement. $6 for adults, $2 for children 6- to 12-years old, children 5-years-old and younger get in for free.

Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The public is welcome to visit the museum, battlefield grounds and climb the 135 foot monument free of charge. The Monument Museum houses a collection of artifacts from the Revolutionary War and beyond established by the Daughters of the American Revolution, which still uses the museum as a meetinghouse.
