Who Knows Groton Better Than You?

The town is counting on residents to fill out a survey to help it create its plan for future growth.

Who better to talk about Groton, about the quality of life here, recreation, business and the community itself than the people that call Groton home?

And that’s why the town is hoping residents will complete an online community survey and “offer your input on the future of planning and development in Groton.”

The survey is designed to gather information from Groton residents in an effort to “inform the Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) and Municipal Coastal Program (MCP) update.”

The questions are about quality of life, recreation, land use, and economic development in Groton. All questions are optional, although some will require you to answer ‘I don't know’, or ‘I choose not to answer.’ Resident input is “crucial in this process,” the posting on the town website reads.

The Plan of Conservation and Development sets policy priorities for the physical, economic and social future of Groton and contains goals and visions along with recommended action steps to help work towards achieving those goals. And part of the process involves “assessing current conditions and trends in order to develop reasonable goals and strategies and engaging the community in a dialogue on its future.”

Meanwhile the Municipal Coastal Program serves similarly as a guide to coastal development and is meant to provide specific guidance to coastal property owners and developers.
