Fitch Robotics Team Advances To National Competition

Team placed first in competition last weekend at WPI in Worcester, Mass.

The Fitch High School robotics team placed first in last weekend's WPI Regional FIRST Robotics Tournament in Worcester, Mass., giving it the chance to compete in the national competition next month, The Mystic River Press reports.

Brian Chidley, coach and Fitch science teacher, told the paper the team must raise $10,000 to go the FIRST Robotics National Competition on April 24-27 in St. Louis.

The story reported that 42 teams competed in the WPI competition, including three former world champions.

The team had to rebuild the robot’s arm during competition and sophomore Emma Stark drove it, outmaneuvering her opponents, the paper said.
