Groton College Students In The News

Groton residents earn academic honors, celebrate graduation. Way to go!

 

There's a whole lot of celebrating to be done in Groton these days--we can't even keep up with all of our congratulations!

Here's a roundup of recent accomplishments by Groton residents:

Colby College

James R. Geoghegan of Mystic, the son of Kieran Geoghegan and Joanne Murray of Mystic, Conn., graduated from Colby College. He majored in global studies and is a graduate of Northfield Mount Hermon School.

James N. O'Brien of Mystic, the son of Dennis and Deborah O'Brien of Mystic, Conn., graduated from Colby College. He majored in sociology and is a graduate of Deerfield Academy.

Western New England University

Samantha E. Lewis of Mystic received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice degree from Western New England University.

Jonathan R. Grover of Groton graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree.

Kenneth P. Muhlack of Groton graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. He was also named to the Dean's List.

Tyler J. Underwood of Mystic has been named to the Dean's List at Western New England for the spring semester of 2012. Underwood is a Junior majoring in Management.

Kayley E. Ackley of Groton, a Sophomore majoring in Criminal Justice with Criminal Investigation Concentration, has been named to the Dean's List.

Joseph A. Walz of Groton, a Sophomore majoring in Exploratory Business, has been named to the Dean's List. 

Molly E. McKenna of Groton, a Junior majoring in Secondary Education-English, has been named to the Dean's List.

St. Michael's College

Cameron Gonzalez, son of Beverly Gonzalez of Groton, a First-Year Psychology major, who graduated from Fitch Senior High School before coming to Saint Michael's has been named to the Dean's List.

Nicholas Kennedy, son of Amy and Michael Kennedy of Groton, a Junior History & Secondary Education major, who graduated from Fitch Senior High School before coming to Saint Michael's, has been named to the Dean's List. 

Clark University

Adam R. Cook of Mystic received a degree from Clark University on Sunday, May 20. Cook graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English.

Heather I. Richards of Groton received a degree from Clark University on Sunday, May 20. Richards graduated with a Master of Arts in Teaching.

Salve Regina University

Joshua Hohlfelder of Noank, a rising senior, has been named to the Dean's List. 

Nathaniel Hohlfelder of Noank, a rising sophomore, has been named to the Dean's List. 

Stonehill College

Mystic resident Catherine J. Butta, a member of the class of 2012, has been named to the Dean's List. 

Mystic resident Abby E. Singer, a member of the class of 2014, has been named to the Dean's List.

Groton resident Eve A. Granatosky, a member of the class of 2012, has been named to the Dean's List. 

Colby-Sawyer College

Christine Wertz graduated from Colby-Sawyer College with a Bachelor of Arts degree on Saturday, May 5 , 2012. Wertz majored in English.

University of Vermont

Shannon L. Burke of Mystic received a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies.

Michael G. Trubia of Mystic received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He was inducted into Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society during ceremonies conducted by the College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Vermont.

Providence College

Michael Grater of Mystic received a bachelor's degree in Elementary/Special Education.

Wallace Akerman of Groton received a bachelor's degree in Health Policy and Management.

Benjamin Estep of Groton received a bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Summa Cum Laude.

DeSales University

Brianne M. Taylor of Noank graduated cum laude with a bachelor's of arts in dance from DeSales University on Saturday, May 19, 2012.

American International College

Alexander Lavruk, a senior majoring in International Business, received the Chester McGown Award and Student Government Executive Board Award.

Eastern Connecticut State University

Adam Phaiah of Groton graduated with a master's degree in Educational Technology.

Amanda Zito of Groton graduated with a master's degree in Reading/Language Arts.

The School of Arts and Sciences at Eastern Connecticut State University recently held the 11th Annual Student Research Conference and Exhibition. The event featured research projects in the form of oral, poster, performance, and art presentations.

Rebecca Holdridge '13 of Mystic participated in the event with her presentation "Mister Pip: A Retelling of More Than Just 'Great Expectations'."

Meghan Mizak '12 of Mystic participated in the event with her presentation "Mystic's Major John Mason: Colonial Protector or Murderer? Reading the Evolution of the Landscape of the Pequot Massacre."

Brenau University

Kimberly Dell Lynn of Groton graduated from Brenau University with a Master of Business Administration degree after focusing studies on accounting.
