Groton School Board Extends Interim Superintendent’s Contract

Randall Collins said he has other consulting obligations and cannot serve longer.

The Groton School Board voted Monday to extend Interim Superintendent Randall Collins’ contract until Sept. 28.

The board voted 6-1 for the extension after an executive session. School Board Member Shelley Gardner voted against.

Collins was appointed interim after Superintendent Paul Kadri was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation of his interactions with employees.

The report was completed but the board has not received it nor commented on it.

However, the school board has a meeting scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday and is expected to discuss the investigative report on Kadri. Once the board receives the report, it becomes a public document.

Collins said he has consulting commitments in October so he advised the board to find another interim superintendent who could stay longer.  Collins said he doesn’t mind staying another month, though.

“In fact, I enjoy Groton,” he said.

Collins works as a consultant for District Administration Magazine, a trade publication for school leaders, and said he doesn’t want to give up that job.
