Moms Talk Q&A: Do The Connecticut Mastery Tests Improve The Quality Of Education?

Do The Tests, Being Given This Week In Groton, Serve The Purpose For Which They Were Intended?

This week in Moms Talk, we're going to take a break from the topic of school construction and talk instead about assessment of the schools; specifically, the Connecticut Mastery Test.

Students in Groton are taking the test this week, along with many other local districts.

The tests measure student knowledge in reading, writing and math in grades three through eight, and science in grades five through eight. The exams are intended to assess what students know and what they do not, and use those findings to improve education and fill in gaps.
