Sacred Heart School Welcomes Home Deployed Dad

Army Staff Sgt. Jared Meekhoff was welcomed home recently by Sacred Heart School where his daughter Emma is a fourth grader. Meekhoff spent 10 months in Afghanistan as a member of Bravo Company 603rd Air Support Battalion.

Meekhoff presented Sacred Heart Principal Larry Fitzgerald (Ret Lieutenant Commander US Army) with the American flag his company flew on the tail of a UH-60L Blackhawk helicopter.

The welcome home banner for Meekhoff was created by Emma's classmates with help from their Pre-K buddies, but the entire school community signed it!

In December, the Sacred Heart School community pitched in for phone cards for Meekhoff's unit so they could call home for the holidays.

Sacred Heart staff member Laura Lowry and others sent Meekhoff a video of Emma's Christmas concert, "as he had not missed a concert in years and was able to see her perform an hour after the show via the Internet," Lowry said.
